Morotai
The History
Find Eastern Indonesia's Gem
Looking for somewhere to relax and wash away your stress? Look no further than the islands of Morotai. There are 33 islands, of which seven are inhabited. Located in the Northeastern frontier of Indonesia, Morotai was the strategic base for the Allied Forces during WWII.
The island is a tropical paradise facing the open Pacific Ocean, where the tranquil blue sea meets the white sandy beaches with a large green hinterland. Time is at a standstill on the beach fronts. You can view colourful marine life even without wetting your feet in some areas. Measuring 80 km by 42 km, Morotai likens to an aviary of migrating and local birds.
