Getting to Morotai
Morotai Island is one of those islands that you could only see in pictures, with its clear blue waters over soft sandy beaches.
A place to forget your fears and worries and just enjoying the island life. Since many people only hear about the island, it is common for you to ask questions on getting there or some tips and tricks to make the journey a wonderful experience.
Plane
Here is some information for your transportation preparation for the trip. Currently, there are no direct flights to Morotai Island. You have the option to go from Soekarno Hatta International Airport (CGK) and transit to Manado (MDC) or Ternate (TTE), in order to get to Morotai Island (OTI). Usually, the journey takes 6-9 hours, depending on the layovers.
However, the flights are only available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with only a few airlines. You also get the option to layover in Ternate (TTE) to get in a boat to get to Morotai. The cost of the journey is Rp120.000, for going back and forth. The boat comes and goes more often due to the flights that go to Ternate.
Speedboat
Another option to get to Morotai is by speedboat from Tobelo, which costs Rp50.000. The journey takes about 3 hours. It is hard to get to Morotai, but the island is one of the beauties you do not want to miss in your life and let your feelings wash away in the beauty of the island.
