Beyond the bustling megapolitan of Jakarta, lies a paradise just by its coast. The Thousand Islands (officially named Kepulauan Seribu) are a string of islands located in the north of Jakarta’s coastline. Despite being near the busiest city province of Jakarta, Thousand Islands retains its natural beauty and clear waters, unspoiled yet within easy reach from Jakarta. Thousand Islands has around 150 islands, of which 45 are classified as tourist destinations. Six of these islands are developed with facilities for accommodations.

Kota Tua Jakarta, (also known as Jakarta Old Town), on the other hand, is the neighbourhood at the north of Jakarta. It was the original downtown area of Jakarta historically known as Batavia.
Access
How to get there
Both Kota Tua and Kepulauan Seribu are in the vicinity of Jakarta. You can fly to Soekarno Hatta Airport (CGK) and take these methods to get there.

Boat (Thousand Islands)
The most common port to board to Thousand Islands is Muara Angke Port. Boats are scheduled according to your bookings. Within three hours from Muara Angke Port, you will reach Pramuka Island. Speed boats from Marina Ancol Ferry Port will take you there in half the time. You can rent speed boats from here too. Marina Ancol Ferry Port is located in the amusement park of Taman Jaya Impian Ancol, North Jakarta.

Land Transport (Jakarta Old Town)
Jakarta Old Town is located in North Jakarta and is easily accessible by public or private transportation. You can mingle with the locals and get a taste of history by taking a ride on the KRL Commuterline which starts and ends its journey at Jakarta Kota railway station, Jakarta’s first train station.
