In the easternmost tip of Lombok island lies a hidden gem called Tanjung Ringgit. Located in Pamongkong Village in the Jerowaru District, Tanjung Ringgit is a cape that offers a view that you can’t get from any other place.

Tanjung Ringgit is directly opposite the Indian Ocean to the south and Sumbawa Island to the east. The cliff offers a perfect bridge between the crashing blue waves below and rolling white clouds above. Due to its concealed nature and lack of attention, the journey to reach this magnificent location is a rather hard one. However, visitors can come and go as they please with the help of cars and motorcycles. It’s located close to the infamous Lombok Pink Beach, where visitors can rent local boats to travel between locations. The boat rental rates are negotiable, but it’s advisable to ask first how much the rent is and how long it will take to go between places.

The white sand beaches are still untouched, and with little to no visitors, those with the privilege of reaching this place have the further privilege of feeling as though they’re on their own private beach. The panorama available is gorgeous and has the ability to make people who come immediately fall in love. This place is also incredibly popular with people who love photography due to Tanjung Ringgit’s natural beauty. Moreover, the cliffs are very steep, and the sea breeze makes this place very exotic, even compared to the other parts of Lombok. The waves are peaceful and alluring, often being a photogenic aspect of the experience. Not many people swim due to the satisfaction they already receive from the panorama. However, people can swim if they want to. Swimmers are advised not to swim near the cliffs due to the strong currents underwater that could end fatally to anyone who swims near it.

Tanjung Ringgit has also recognized its rich history and its role during the second world war. According to the locals, the coast was used as a secondary base used by the Japanese army during World War II. Unsurprisingly, some of Nippon’s memories and reminiscent of being on location include a cannon and a cave that once served as a place to hide. These historical objects are located in the northern part of the beach. It takes a few minutes to get to the location, but seeing the objects will add to the experience regardless of the effort. In addition, tourists are allowed to take photos of the surroundings.

There aren’t any places to stay around the area due to the underdeveloped nature, but visitors looking to stay overnight can camp in several spots on the many hills and cliffs surrounding it. A famous camping spot is near the lighthouse tower. At night, the stars will accompany campers due to the clear, unpolluted skies. The calming sounds of nature, far from the hustle-bustle of the city and towns, will lull visitors as they descend to dreamland.
