The stunning Merese Hill in West Nusa Tenggara is located in the Tanjung Aan Beach Area. It takes approximately 20 minutes from Kuta Mandalika to Merese Hill by car.

Even though it’s famous for its beautiful sunsets, it doesn’t mean that Merese Hill during mornings doesn’t share the same beauty. During your visit, you have to try coming in the morning to see the sunrise while enjoying the sounds and view of the waves crashing below.

The cool morning air will help you meditate for a moment, clear your mind, enjoy every breath, and give thanks for the life you are given. When you open your eyes, you’ll never regret that you’ve climbed and gone far up the hill; everything will be paid off!

Tips and Tricks hiking up Merese Hill

Best Time to Visit

Visiting during the mid-year dry season is highly recommended for your climb up Merese Hill. How could it not be? The view of exotic scenery with yellow grass without rain is the best time to visit. But you can also choose to come when the rainy season arrives at the end of the year when the view of green grass adds to Merese Hill’s beauty. During the rainy season, not so many travellers come, so you can use the advantage to take pictures here. Merese Hill is always beautiful regardless of when you want to visit, during the dry season or the rainy season. It will always leave a sweet trail at sunrise and go a story at dusk.

Bring Mineral Water

The smaller things, such as bringing mineral water, are sometimes forgotten by many people. When climb up Merese Hill isn’t too complicated, but it can be quite exhausting. It’s recommended that you bring enough mineral water so you don’t get dehydrated. Don’t forget to bring your drinking water bottle, and if you bring a plastic bottle up the hill, don’t forget to have self-awareness by not littering to keep the environment clean.

Wear Comfortable Footwear

The climb up Merese Hill will take approximately 15 minutes by walking before arriving at the top. For that, you have to wear comfortable and non-slippery shoes like sneakers. It’s not recommended to wear flip-flops and sandals because you can get overwhelmed while hiking. However, you can wear mountain sandals which is the best choice for hiking footwear. 

Explore Every Side of the Hill

Why should you explore every side of the hill? Well, it’s a hill, it’s certainly how big and wide this area is. So don’t just stay at one point. Explore from various angles of the mountain with the naked eye. The panorama from the top of the hill is relatively romantic, and you’ll never be able to stop saying how beautiful the creation of the owner of the universe is. You’ll see Tanjung Aan Beach, which stretches out like a painting, white sand and blue sea that unites Tanjung Aan beach with Merese Hill from the top of the hill.

Don’t Forget to Bring Your Camera.

The last part is a pity to miss. Are you a real traveller? The mandatory thing to remember is to bring a DSRL or Mirrorless camera to the top of the hill. Ensure the camera is fully charged and the SD card is sufficient because it’s guaranteed that the pictures taken will be more than 20 shots when you get to the top. It doesn’t matter if you only use a smartphone camera and make sure you have enough memory space to satisfy your need for pictures.
