There are many ways to travel to Wakatobi from Jakarta. But if you want to a less hour of flight, we recommend you to go to Wakatobi from Bali. Travellers can take a flight to Matahora Airport Wakatobi in Wanci – Wangi-Wangi Island, with transit in Jakarta, Makassar and Kendari (Maybe less transit depending on your ticket). We can also get there through the sea from Kendari with a Weekly transport ship directly to Wangi-Wangi Island. If staying at Wakatobi Dive Resort, travellers can take a direct flight from Bali to Maranggo Airport in Tomia Island, their very own private airport, which takes only three hours.  (Closed during Covid-19 pandemic)

Plane

You can take a flight to Matohara Airport Wakatobi in Wangi Wangi Island. You can go there from Jakarta with or without transit (transit in Kendari). Another option is to take a flight from Bali, which has a less hour flight than Jakarta’s flight.

Boat

Not only get there by plane, but you can also get there by sea from Kendari. You can check the schedule of the boat by the time you are going to go there.

Things You Need to Bring in Your Journey

Wakatobi speciality is its underwater beauty. So we recommend you bring a swimsuit when you visit Wakatobi. The other important thing to bring to Wakatobi is sunblock cream. Wakatobi has abundant sunlight all day long, so mind to bring a sunblock cream to prevent you from being a zebra. Bring a camera or a phone with a proper built-in camera to save your fond memories of being there.
